10/01 APEX 2nd Annual Charity
Poker Tournament benefiting the ABHOP 
joining the Asian Breast Health Outreach Project

Texas Hold'em Poker has certainly become one of the most popular pastime
activities reaching a wide range of audiences. It is easy to learn
and great fun to play. We at APEX would like to invite you to join
us at our 2nd Annual Charity Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament. All proceeds
of the event will benefit the Asian
Breast Health Outreach Project.
The tournament will held be at the May Dragon restaurant in Addison.
The owner of May Dragon, Mr. Joe Chow, is also the current Mayor of
Addison. He will be there to officially kick off the event. Limited
food and beverages will be provided. A cash bar is also available.

About the Asian Breast Health Outreach Project:
The Asian Breast Health Outreach Project (ABHOP), http://www.asianbreasthealth.org,
focus is on minimizing the barriers that keep Asian women from fully
participating in the early detection of breast cancer. By addressing
language, fear, culture, lack of information, economic and transportation
barriers that may have been factors in this priority group, we hope
to achieve this goal. By providing educational seminars and distributing
literature in their native language, breast health awareness for Asian
women will be increased. ABHOP will also provide screening mammography
services and referrals at no cost to low-income, medically underserved
Asian women in Dallas County.

Race for the Cure, 5K

APEX in Action is
the name for our Community Service part of the organization. We are
dedicated and driven to volunteer for various community service projects.
We're taking action by giving back to the area community.
APEX in Actionis pleased
to join the Asian Breast Health Outreach Project (ABHOP) in the 2005
Dallas Race for the Cure. Join the ABHOP team in support of the Komen
Foundation research for finding a cure for breast cancer. Our goal
is to raise at least $1,000 and have 50+ team walkers. We'll take
a team picture for this event and you'll get an ABHOP team t-shirt.
What a testimony it would be to see the Asian community get together
to support this worthy cause! After the 5K race/walk, we'll go to
the ABHOP booth and some team participants will receive prizes. Contact

Online Registration Process:
1. Go to www.komen-dallas.org
2. Click on the Online Registration in the right-hand column
3. Select ‘Join an Existing Team'
4. Type in Asian Breast Health Outreach
or Hit ‘Search for a Team' Button
5. Find Asian Breast Health Outreach on the Team List and select ‘
Join ' in the far right-hand
column
6. Select your participation designation (most should be ‘Adult' -
$30)
7. Fill out necessary forms and follow the online process.
8. Sign your waiver & pay!
9. Packet will be sent directly to online registrants.

please come out to our first APEX Coffee Break at Starbucks on Campbell
and 75 in Richardson on Tuesday, October 18. This is a chance for
YOU to get to know the officers and the organization
better. We'll be there sipping on coffee and ready to muse on any
topics.
If you're a regular member and just need a simple pick-me-upper in
the middle of the work week, please also feel free to come out and
enjoy a mocha latte or espresso with us.

on October 29, from 8:30am to 5pm at UT Dallas. This is a top notch
leadership conference with nationally recognized speakers participating.
