event information
Dallas, TX – Lion dance, martial arts, sumo wrestling and Japanese drums
will grace the Centennial Hall at Fair Park as
a part of this year's Asian Festival hosted by the Greater
Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by the Crow
Collection of Asian Art Museum. This FREE event showcases authentic Asian
cuisine, cultural entertainment and activities for children in a daylong
festival celebrating the National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
The Asian Festival will be held for its 16th year on Saturday, May 6 from
11am-5pm, at Centennial Hall at Fair Park, 1300
Robert B. Callum Boulevard, in downtown Dallas. The festival will be relocating
to Fair Park form the Annette Strauss Artist Square due to the construction
of the new opera house. Last year, more than 15,000 people gathered for the
festival, confirming this event as the largest celebration of Asian culture
in the North Texas area.
This fun, colorful and festive event will unite Asian cultures while creating
a diverse marketplace featuring native arts & crafts, music, dance, food,
martial arts and children's activities. Unique cuisine from Indonesia, Korea,
China, India, Laos, Vietnam, the Philippines and other countries will be
sold by independent vendors. The children's area, Passport to Asia for Kids,
will provide activities culturally relevant to the traditions of the arts
of Asia such as origami, face painting, henna painting, jewelry making, and
many more.
Event Signature Sponsor is State Farm. Other sponsors include Brinker International,
Crow Collection of Asian American Art, the Dallas Morning News, Ben E. Keith,
and DART.
