APEX in Action is the name for the Community Service part of our organization. Come and join us as we take Action to make a difference in our community.
Welcome to the first volunteer work day at the Asian community market garden in East Dallas. We will be mulching and weeding the pathways of the East Dallas market garden. Gardeners in Community Development will be providing the mulch. We will be providing the manpower. A few hours of your time will make a huge difference to the lives of many who count on these gardens to thrive.
Gardeners in Community Development (GICD) is a Dallas area nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote community gardening as a way to enhance neighborhood life. Each year GICD makes it possible for hundreds of Dallas area families, mostly low-income, to enjoy fresh vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers grown in the community gardens. There are 3 gardens in East Dallas known as the Asian Gardens. These gardens were started in 1987 as a project to assist the Southeast Asian refugee community. Our first project will focus on the pathways through the main market garden. The farmers are getting older and do not have the energy to keep up with the common areas. This market garden also grows extra vegetables which are donated to area food banks. For more information, please visit www.gardendallas.org.
APEX-Dallas will also be donating wheel barrows and much needed tools to GICD to be shared by the farmers at the Asian market garden in East Dallas. We will be painting the wheel barrows. Please contact Stephanie if you would like to help with this project.

The Asian Festival will be held for its 16th year on Saturday, May 6 from
11am-5pm, at Centennial Hall at Fair Park, 1300
